Bahamite

The Dwarves had fared better than most races during The Cataclysm, being somewhat insulated in their mountain keeps. When the magical storms had settled down, they ventured forth from their mountain keeps to see what had become of the world. What they found was Bahamite.

It seemed as though the death of Bahamut had left a physical residue amidst the wastes. Blue and silver crystals hid amidst the sand, which could be processed as energy and used to fuel all sorts of devices. Technology again progressed, far faster than it had even before, and the dwarven inventors were at the forefront. The Dwarven Monarchy quickly transformed into a corporation, with the former [[:King Blackforge]] now going by a different title: C.E.O.

The Dwarves hired other races to process the sand, digging up Bahamite crystal while their inventors devised new ways to use it. Many of the upstart settlements of The Wastes became boomtowns sitting atop caches of the new world’s fuel. It did not take long before other races resented the Dwarves monopoly and several groups fought for stakes in the resource. The early bird gets the worm however, and the Dwarves still hold the largest number of Bahamite processing mills. After almost fifty years, blackforge inc is the richest economy on Kaverus. Though since Reldrav Blackforge inherited the business from his father, their practices have gotten more questionable, and you can often find the dwarves dealing weapons and energy to both sides of any given conflict.
